For some folks pandemic has been a rare opportunity to shine

This SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has disrupted our lives. We all know that. But for some folks it’s been a rare opportunity.

Let’s break ‘em out:

  • Public Health Officials.

Let’s face it, most of us never knew most of these people even existed. Today, they’re everywhere.

In fact, there isn’t a day that goes by that you can’t find a public health official in each and every state or province telling us something or other about the virus.

Most of it, of course, is useless information. One day they’re against quarantine. The next they’re for it. One day they’re against masks. Next day they’re for ‘em.

But they’re all for washing hands – vigorously.

So the pandemic has sort of been a continuous Mother’s Day celebration for these ladies.

  • Bylaw Officers

Let’s face it. Most their lives revolve around issuing tickets to people who don’t pick up their dog’s poops.

Now, all of a sudden, they’re cracking down on real criminals – people who step outside to get a breath of fresh air.

Heady stuff. I’m just glad they’re not allowed to carry guns.

  • Police

Police, of course, are allowed to carry guns. Fortunately, they’ve shown a lot of restraint. They haven’t shot anyone breaking a lockdown – yet. (Give them time.)

They have managed to rough up quite a few protesters. Saw one video of five cops slamming a guy to the ground and then kneeing him in the stomach as he exercised his constitutional rights.

But no one’s bitching at them too much because, hey, this is a pandemic and we all know our rights are suspended.

  • Politicians

OMFG, politicians are loving this shit. They get to go on air every day and say they’re sorry your mom, dad, grandma or grandpa died. They get to act so concerned. Man, it’s hard to hold back the tears.

Then, after the little speech, they get to drive off to the cottage.

It’s a tough life.

Of course, not one will ever appologize for not taking the steps to actually protect the elderly.

The ironies.

  • Karens

This pandemic was made for all the biddy-bodies out there. Neighbors playing in their backyards? Phone 9-1-1. Somebody not wearing a mask? Get out the camera. Someone bicycled by you? Shout at them about social distancing.

  • Graph makers

I saved the best for last. Folks who like to make graphs have never had so many people follow their work.

I have to be careful here cuz in the circles I travel, there are lots of graph makers.

They’re highly intelligent people who love math and know all these programming languages.

Go figure.

Since the pandemic began, they’ve really upped their game. We’ve had graphs showing the effects of all things connected to the pandemic.

One of my friends even managed to get that Ferguson fellow’s program to run on his iMac.

There’ve been flattening graphs, death graphs, sick graphs, business graphs – you get the point.

I worry about these guys (yeah they’re 99 per cent guys). What are they gonna do when it’s all over?

If you enjoy my work, please donate some coin. Seriously, this is work and I’d like some compensation. Here’s my Tip Jar. Stay safe and don’t be a Karen.
